Me and my husband have filed our taxes jointly with me as primary but his year I didn’t work. Is it beneficial to switch him to primary or does it make no difference?

Do not switch the order of the names. It confuses the IRS, since their files are maintained under the SSN of the first person listed. Calculation-wise, it doesn't make a difference.
