math error on my Turbo 2025 tax return submitted by Turbo Tax.

I need somebody from Turbo Tax to call me, [phone number removed].  The IRS has stated a math error was made on my return and they are reducing my refund by $1414.00.  I have reviewed my return and do not see where an error was made.   I have used Turbo Tax for years and have never had an issue until the 2025 tax return.  I strongly feel the IRS is making the mistake.  They need to re-read the questions.  PLEASE CALL ME.

Nothing about Social Security has changed. It can still be taxable.
For 2025 there is a new Enhanced Deduction for Seniors of $6,000 for each spouse 65 or older if you qualify. It starts to phase out if your AGI is 75,000 (150,000 Joint). Then it is reduced by 6 cents for every dollar of income over. That is listed separately on your return and is in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions and is after any Social Security taxable amount on line 6b. The deduction for seniors will be allowed for 4 years, from 2025 through 2028.

The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b with any other Sch 1-A amounts.  (The Standard Deduction is on line 12e).

Do you get Social Security?  Do you have a taxable amount on 1040 line 6b?   People have been answering a question wrong making SS not taxable.

just an explanation ... Turbo Tax completed and filed my taxes.  Why is it that a hugh percentage of the people seemed to understand there would be no tax on SS for 2025 plus an additional $6,000 reduction for Senior's over 65?

Thanks

And for SS taxable.   Starting in 2024 there is a new question asking if you lived in a foreign country. People were answering it wrong or skipping it. Go back through the Social Security entries and check, check for each spouse if married. If the IRS adjusted your return you do not need to amend.

Check the top of the Turbo Tax Social Security Worksheet. There is a box to check if you lived in a foreign country.
