Married filing Separately - spouse income reporting requirement

My wife and I are filing 'married filing separately' bc of her income-based student loan repayment program. Her tax software (not TurboTax) states that she is required to report my income as well for "informational" purposes. Is this actually an IRS requirement? If so, does she report my W-2 income (box 1) only or my AGI?

In a community property state you will both report each other's income and deductions and then take half on each return.

Just to confirm, are you referring to income generated from community property? We do live in a community property state, so I fully understand that. My question is whether we also have to report our spouse's W-2 income even though we are filing 'married filing separately'?

Yes, you will report each other's W2 income on your own return.
