For three years in a row, TurboTax Louisiana State Tax program has not properly entered the Military Retirement on the Louisiana form properly, and thus the taxable income is incorrect and the tax owed is incorrect. This necessitates the user (me) to go into forms, find the proper place to enter the amount and where to enter my retirement date so it registers on the return. I have pointed this out three years in a row now, and Intuit/TurboTax has neither responded to me nor fixed the problem for the next year. I advise you get your software folks to fix it before next year.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm not a TurboTax employee; I'm a user like you (and a proud Louisiana native).
I'll once again share your feedback with TurboTax Moderators for their review and investigation.

How do I correct the glitch in the program?
Follow the instructions above to submit to us a testing file. We will use that to research the specific issue and pass it onto our product team for further investigation.
Same here, Louisiana does NOT tax military retirement. Your state software is supposed to remove this amount but DOES NOT and forces users to fix this manually......Pull your heads out of your asses and get your **bleep** together.......Strongly considering moving to H&R block.
I haven’t had that problem in the past, but I did this year. It listed the military retirement but carried a “0” in the amount blank. I had already transmitted return to the state, so had to file an amended return (which I typed in myself). It angers me that you brought this to their attention many years in a row & they still haven’t fixed it. May have to use a different brand of software next year. Can’t find a way to contact them except by calling & I don’t want to be put on hold for hours. Glad to know I’m not the only one.
Please send a diagnostic copy of your tax return to TurboTax so they can investigate this problem. In the diagnostic copy, all SSN, names, addresses, and other personal info will be replaced with generic info.
For TurboTax Online, click the dropdown arrow next to Tax Tools on the left menu panel, then click Tools under that. On the Tools Center pop-up, select Share my file with Agent. When you confirm the request, you will get a box with a token number. Reply with the token number and I’ll be able to open a TurboTax tax return with your numbers but not your personal information.
For TurboTax Download/CD, on your menu bar at the very top, click “Online” and then “Send Tax File to Agent”. When you click to send, you will get a pop-up with the token number.
Trying to file my taxes and my Louisiana State return has my military retirement at $0 for non taxable
If your military retirement income is listed on Schedule E as “0”, that means it is showing zero is your total exemption. In other words, the program is charging you state income tax on the whole amount. This is wrong. Your total military retirement amount should be “exempt” & you should pay no tax on it.
I have tried to tell you this for he past 2 years.Hopefully this will soon be corrected without your call. Thank you for ther notice.
Yes I know this was brought to their attention a few years ago, but it is still a problem. Not trying to step on toes, just trying to get them to correct their program. Thanks
My Louisiana teacher's retirement is not pulling as state tax exempt. Turbo tax is showing that I owe state tax and I do not.
I’m not the only one who contacted them about this error, but they not heard from them. They charged me the fee for my state taxes but it’s incorrect. Make sure you contact them & let them know.
TurboTax will exempt your retirement if there is an amount in Form 1099-R Box 16 - State Distribution Amt.
Here's how to enter to adjust your Form 1099-R in TurboTax:
