Why do I not find "Crypto (1099-B)" in the "Investment income" section under "Wages and Income"?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Are you using TurboTax Online or the CD/Download TurboTax software?
The CD/Download TurboTax software does not have a special section for sales of cryptocurrency. You enter it the same as if it were stock.
In TurboTax Online I believe the full title of the section is "Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B)."
See the following FAQ.
How do I report Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency as a capital gain?
Yes, I'm using the CD, not online. The TurboTax documentation does not make this distinction clear. Thanks for your info.
Do you want to import it? There is a way.
You can only import crypto into the Online version. For Desktop program you can start a free online return to import it then switch and open your return in the Desktop program. See answer here,
