Last year I filed 5,000 tax credit on my Nissan Leaf Leasing and I got only around 3,500 USD. Tax person advised I will receive the extra next year, how do I file for it?

A business-related energy credit carries back first, or forward. You should have a Form 3800 with your 2015 return, as well as the Form 8936. The used business portion of the credit will be shown on Form 3800 from 2015. You should also have a statement of carryover with your 2015 return.
If your credit is to carry forward, you enter it here (if not using Self-Employed or Home and Business):
- Federal Taxes
- Wages and Income
- Business Items
- Business Deductions and Credits
- Other Business Credits
- General Business Credits- say "Yes"
- Select Qualified Plug-In Electric Vehicle Carryover
- Enter the year of the credit and the allowable unused credit
If you cannot use part of the personal portion of the credit because of the tax liability limit, the unused credit is lost. The unused personal portion of the credit cannot be carried back or forward to other tax years.
