Do you need assistance with the service that generates and e-files these forms for you? Or, are you asking where to expense these payments as your prepare your return?

To prepare 1099-MISC or W-2 forms for your contractors/employees, please follow these steps:

  1. Go back into your return.
  2. On the screen, Your income and expenses, click on the Start/Revisit box next to Self-Employment.  [See Screenshot #1.]
  3. If you have already started entering information about your business, you will see a screen, Your 2017 self-employed work summary.  Click the Edit box next to your business name.  [Screenshot #2]
  4. On the Here's your XXX info screen, click the Add expenses for this work box. [Screenshot #3]
  5. On the screen, Tell us about any expenses for XXX, scroll down to Less Common Expenses and click on the down arrow to expand the selection.
  6. Click on the button next to Contract Labor and click Continue at the bottom of the page.
  7. On the next screen, Let’s enter the contract labor expenses for your [XXX] work, click on the link, Help me prepare and file W-2s and 1099s  [Screenshot #4]

Of the various other entries telling you how to create a 1099 for 2017 taxes using Self Employed, this is the only guidance that helped.  THANK YOU!!!!!!!
