Kansas Taxes on Vegas Winnings

Do I need to pay taxes on my Vegas winnings on my Kansas Residential tax return? I claimed losses up to the amount of my winnings on my Schedule A on my Federal return. Do I need to report my W-2 G winnings as income in KS? I don't see a way to deduct my losses for Kansas. There is no state listed on my W-2 Gs.

Kansas Taxes on Vegas Winnings

Yes, you will have to pay tax in Kansas for your gambling winnings.

If you did qualify for Itemized deductions the losses will be included in schedule A.  If the standard deduction was greater, you get the advantage of the larger deduction, but you do not get the added gambling loss credit.

Kansas allows you to take the same itemized deductions on your state taxes as on your federal taxes, so if you used the itemized deductions on your Federal tax return it would carry through to the state.
