I have a new iMac, latest OS, desktop version of TurboTax 2025 (just purchased at Costco) doesn't load on it.
I have tried multiple times.
I have used TurboTax in the past and have not had problems.
I am on hold with TurboTax toll-free for > a half-hour.
You buy your troubles. I wish I hadn't bought TurboTax.
Same problem here. I purchased TT2025 Home & Business from Amazon, downloaded the software (I think it downloaded) had to also download some other software so it will "work" on a Mac... the only thing I get is a loop to go to Intuit, sign into my account, and then all sorts of other junk from Intuit pops up. Nowhere to type in my serial number for the purchase I just made. I have used TT on a PC for years with no problem. This is extremely frustrating! I feel your pain.
Please see this article for all of the Mac OS and other requirements for tax year 2025 if you haven't already, to ensure that your Mac meets all of the requirements for this year.
If you get to the screen that asks for your "keychain", it is asking for the password that you set for access to the computer.
In the alternative, if your device can't run TurboTax Desktop, TurboTax Online is a browser-based option that works regardless of the specific macOS version.
In addition, for the best experience, ensure your browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge) is updated to the latest version. Chrome generally works well with Mac. Clearing cache and cookies often helps as well.

I'm having the same issue...TT won't load on my mac and says I need a software update. I don't, i'm running Ventura 13.7.8 which is the latest update, and have plenty of memory. Any assistance would help. The 800 number the chat bot gives me has me on hold now for 35 mins.
@oxfordfam The minimum system requirements on a Mac for the 2025 TurboTax desktop editions is macOS Sonoma 14 or later

@oxfordfam 13.7.8 is the latest for you that OS your HW can take, but OS 13 is out of support as of Nov i.e. your HW is also out of date and Apple won't allow you to upgrade past 13. The latest OS is 26 (now following calendar years so it went 14,15,26 after 13 - see https://support.apple.com/en-us/109033). You'll stop receiving updates from Apple and other third parties like Adobe, MS 365... and Intuit, they don't support Turbotax on unsupported OS versions.
If/when you consider upgrading, Mac minis are a pretty powerful solution you can plug into 3rd party monitors for a flexile setup.
Did you ever get an answer or does it just not work on a Mac?
Same problem, 2 hours with Tech support and they are suggesting a refund as the best solution. So people, if it doesn't work, it won't ever work and you should simply request a refung.

Just bought turbo tax 2025 Premier You may have to go to another program turbo tax does not support any thing any more It won't down load on my Mac computer either
Lost my 35 Years with turbo tax
Be Aware Mac users. You do not JUST need Mac OS 14 or above for the desktop version! You need to have an Apple Silicon chip NOT an Intel chip and will need to run Rosetta 2. Your computer needs to be able to be updated to Tahoe OS 26. It doesn't have to be running Tahoe, just able to be updated to it!
I just spent 4.5 hours on the phone with TurboTax tech support after trying unsuccessfully to load the desktop version of TurboTax Premier 2025. I have an early 2020 Mac Mini with a 3.2 GHz 6 Core Intel Core i7 processor running on Sequoia 15.7.4 with 64 GB of RAM and over 900MB of free disk space.
I downloaded the desktop version of Turbo Tax Premier 2025; installed it to my Applications folder; opened it; got the "You're up to date" screen; followed by the "No Tax Forms or Updates at this time" screen; followed by a "You're not connected to Internet. To activate your purchase, you'll need to connect to the internet."
I was connected to the internet.
I spoke with 4 different TurboTax support representatives and was finally told the problem was because my computer cannot be upgraded to the Tahoe OS and has an Intel chip.
Mac's need to have an Apple Silicon (M1-M5) chip and then need to run Rosetta 2 in order to use the desktop version of TurboTax 2025.
The other option is to use the online version, which for me will cost considerably more than the $70 I spent at Costco for the desktop version which I could use to do taxes for myself, my elderly parents, and my kids! Now EACH person will need their own account and if they have investment (like 401k retirement) income will have to pay $100-140+ EACH!
I've used TurboTax since 2004. Sadly, I'm now looking at other options that (1) do not require a new computer (2) do not require being online while I work on my taxes (face it, not everyone has great internet service and tax service websites have been known to be overloaded come April); (3) do not require storing my personal tax information on someone else's computer; (4) Allow me to easily see what the tax impact will be before making financial decisions by running "what if" scenarios on my desktop tax software before I make donations, sell stock, take retirement distributions, etc
