I was divorced in April 2017 but my employer never changed my marital status to single. Do I have to file my ex or do I make my employer correct it.

Just have your employer correct your W-4 information.  If you did not remarry, you file your tax return as either 'Single', or 'Head of Household' if you have a dependent who qualifies you for HOH status.
