Its telling me to request a refund from my employer for RR Teir I tax, but that is incorrect. I have never had a problem with the RR taxes on here before. Can I bypass?

It says I overpaid because there is no social security income shown. And I should ask my employer for a refund of the RR Tier I taxes I paid and get a corrected W2.  The RR tax I paid is correct.  It is saying because there is no income in the SS wages that I over paid.  I’ve never had any problem with this before when filing with turbo tax.  I don’t know if I can just bypass this or not?

Enter your Railroad Retirement Tier 1 amounts in box 14 of the W-2. Do not enter it box 4 for Social Security withholdings. In box 14, enter the description, amount, and select the category drop down then scroll to Railroad Retirement Tier 1. Additionally, you will need to enter in box 14 the Railroad Retirement compensation amount from box 1 of the W2 so the overpayment is not reported. Select "Railroad Retirement Compensation" from the box 14 category.

The 1099 Series are informational reporting forms submitted to the IRS by third parties. The IRS then matches the form information to your tax return to insure all income is reported and taxed. If you do not include a 1099 received from a third party on your tax return, you will receive a notice from the IRS asking why. This is the CP2000 matching notice. If you receive this notice from the IRS, make sure and respond by the date indicate on the notice.
