Because you are filing right
before (or on) the busy April 15, 2019 deadline, the Internal Revenue Service
(IRS) may not be able to debit your payment until after the deadline, due to high e-filing volume. In addition, it can
take your bank another few days to post the debit to your account.
There is another alternative to pay
your tax liability by utilizing the IRS Direct
Pay feature. You
will not be charged a fee, nor will your bank account information be retained
in the Direct Pay system.
You can also make a debit or credit card payment by choosing
an IRS approved on-line payment processor, calling by phone, or using the IRS2Go app. The approved vendors will charge a fee. Please refer to
the Credit or
Debit Card Payments section on irs.gov for
more information.
