I did not finish filing my taxes for 2016. How will this affect me this year?

It will only affect the preparation of your 2017 returns in that your information will most likely not "transfer over". 

I would recommend filing your 2017 returns by the due date and then file your 2016 returns using one of our 2016 products at the link I've added below:
