It sounds like you may qualify to claim your daughter as a dependent. The only test that you may need to consider is the Support Test, which for this test, she cannot have paid for more than half of her support.

Under the qualifying child rules, there are 5 tests you need to meet to claim your daughter as a dependent:
  •     Relationship: Must be your child, adopted child, foster-child, brother or sister, or a descendant of one of these (grand or nephew).
  •     Residence: Must have the same residence for more than half the year. (Attending college can be considered a temporary absense if home residence still maintained.
  •     Age: Must be under age 19 or under 24 and a full-time student for at least 5 months. They can be any age if they are totally and permanently disabled.
  •     Support: Must not have provided more than half of their own support during the year.
  •     Joint Support: The child cannot file a joint return for the year.

The software asks questions about all of these tests to help you determine if she qualifies. To add her and see if she qualifies, follow these steps:

  • Go to: Personal Info tab > click Continue > here you'll find a summary of your personal info.
  • Scroll down and click "Add a dependent" and answer all the questions that follow
