It says I need to upgrade to file because I have a Schedule 1, however, I didn't collect any money from stocks or dividends this year. So why do I need to upgrade?

If stocks and dividends income doesn't apply to you, you can simply remove the forms.  Here are the steps (online):

• Sign into your account, select Take me to my return
• To your left, select Tax Tools, click on the drop-down arrow
• Select Tools
• Under Other helpful links, choose Delete a form
• Scroll down the list to locate the 1099B / 1099-DIV / Schedule B-dividends and all related worksheets select Delete and Continue with My Return

You should be able to proceed without the need to upgrade.
