It is saying I cannot efile because I did not put any information in for a 1040 form, yet I do not believe I have a 1040 form at all. Is this correct?

For a 2018 tax return EVERYONE has a Form 1040. There are no more 1040EZ or 1040A’s. We all have a new Form 1040 that can include up to six possible “schedules” with it. If you have not entered any taxable income then you will not be able to e-file your return. So what income have you entered?

Thank you. I am a US military contractor working and living abroad in Germany. I lived in Colorado the year previous, but do I even file a Colorado state return?

Ok ... so you are using the form 2555 to exclude all your foreign income correct ?   If so to be able to efile you will need to enter $1 of bank interest income to force the efiling ... this will have no effect on the return just allow efiling.
