It depends on what kind of income you received.
If you received supplemental security income (SSI), it is not taxable.
If you received Social Security Income, reported to you on an SSA-1099, which is pink and white, up to 85% may be taxable, if you've received other income in 2017.
If you received a W-2, then it is taxable.
If you received a 1099, then it is taxable.
