Is there anyway to get the eic if married but filing separate ? And can I file single if I didn't live with my wife most of the year ?

No, you cannot get EIC when you file married filing separately. No, if you were married you cannot file single. If you were marreid at the end of 2016 your filing choices are married filing jointly or married filing separately--or possibly Head of Household if you have the kids.
