When I use TurboTax Desktop 2022 for Windows and I make a change to my tax return, if I try to exit the program without saving my changes it prompts me to ask if I want to save my work. When I do the same thing with TurboTax 2022 Desktop for Mac I don’t get a prompt like that, instead TurboTax just saves the file without asking me anything. Is that a known behavior, and is there a way to change it?

In Mac (at least in Catalina that I have) there is an option in system preferences to 'Ask to keep changes when closing documents". If not checked then it will not ask.
I am fairly certain that is a MAC function that cannot be stopped however you can always save the file as you go along with apecific file name so you can open the file later if you want to go back in time.
@macuser_22 may have more information.
It might be something inherent in Macs but I haven’t observed that behavior with other programs on my Mac. However Quicken on Windows does that same thing, it always saves updates to the files without asking you. In other words, Intuit seems to be the common denominator.

Thank you, that is correct and concise.
