Ok ... as you continue thru the interview the information on the possibility of the CTC is presented in the MY INFO tab BUT until you have entered in all the income the credit is not assured or may be not allowed or be reduced. The Additional Child Tax Credit may be employed. So until you have completely finished entering in all income and expenses/deductions AND the program is fully functional will you get a final accurate bottom line.
Ok ... re read the question ... if the IRS disallowed the CTC then the IRS notice should have explained why ... did they disallow the dependent ? Did they change your income ?
If the IRS has sent a letter telling you that you are not eligible for the child tax credit, only the IRS can tell you why. Maybe that dependent was claimed by someone else, or maybe the child is age 17 or older and does not qualify for the $2000 credit. Turbotax prepares your return based on the information that you provide, and does not know if the IRS is going to change it.
