Is there a builtin check within turbo tax that checks ITINs against names? if so, would that prevent me from entering the Wrong ITIN for the wrong dependent?

No- Turbo Tax does not have the authority to match names and ITINs/ SSNs. It does not have a database of ITIN or SSN information. If you enter incorrect information, the IRS will reject the return. The IRS matches taxpayer information. Turbo Tax will simply let you know if and when the IRS has rejected it.

There's no way to test it before e-filing, so please locate the ITIN cards or a previous tax return.
