Do you claim your grand daughter as a dependent on your tax return? Or is she claimed by her parents? Please explain.
The contribution I am referring to is the only one we have made but we did pay directly to the medical services provider? Our granddaughter is not a dependent.
@jmorris5071 No. You cannot get a deduction for your grandchild's medical expense. You can only get a deduction for medical expenses paid for yourself or your dependents. Sorry---you provided a gift for your grandchild, and gifts to individuals are not deductible.
