Is my tax return wrong? I got far less then was is stated. around 1/3 the amount

My CA tax return was stated to be at $1468. but when checking my bank account the amount I received was $458. I am guessing that this is my CA tax return because the vendor name is "TURBOTAX CA refund". Is there a mistake on my part? or was there are mix up? or what should I be doing now? My last year tax returns, both were accurate. (STATE and FED) I'm new to the USA, so taxes here a foreign to me. And use TURBOTAX because it is easier

MY STATE REFUND WAS LESS THAN I EXPECTED

The state will send you a letter explaining the change.  TurboTax does not get any feedback from your state after your return is accepted, so no one at TT knows why your state refund was less.   Did you owe back taxes, child support, or student loans?  Traffic fines, etc.?

No, nothing that I know about.  I’m single, and originally from hong kong.  No child to support, education was aboard, before I came here and fully paid. No traffics violations, and taxes last year was correct and accurate.  That is why I was somewhat confused for this year.

The FTB is the only source that can answer exactly why they change the refund.  It could be due to an offset (such as a debt owed) or a credit they disallowed, or something else.  

The FTB is required to send you a letter (usually Notice FTB 5818) explaining why they changed your refund. 

If you don't want to wait for the letter, you can contact the FTB. Since tax season is very busy, it is easier to send a message rather than call them. If you don't have one, create a MyFTB account. Once logged in, you can send a secure message. They usually respond within a few business days

@Frederick_JFG   Your refund deposit would not say TurboTax on it.  Did you have any fees deducted from your state refund?  My CA refund deposit says.....Franchise Tax Bd Casttaxrfd 022026.

I would print out 2025 & 2024 returns and compare them line by line to see what changed.  Maybe you will spot something you entered wrong or left out, etc.
