Is it possible to upgrade to a higher edition if I have a TurboTax CD/Download version?

Look at the top of your TT tool bar....there is an "Upgrade" button you can use if you want to.

yes you can upgrade turbo tax will ask you if you want to during the inquiry period especially if your situation fits into a more complex tax issues

@HamzaS Oh---and when it is time to pay for the upgrade ..... use a credit card or debit card. It will offer you the chance to pay the upgrade fee from your federal refund but do not fall for that or it will add a $39 ($45 in CA) "refund processing fee" to the charge.
