Yes, I can't e-file my taxes because of this very issue.
"check for updates from the online menu on browser to connect to our website"
is for Desktop users only.
TurboTax Online is updated every time it is opened.
To clarify, are you having issues entering Crypto trades?
Hey @KrisD15
I'm not sure what the issue is, then, because the photo below is what my TurboTax looks like and I am using my Desktop.
I am having issues entering Crypto trades ONLY with something mentioning I need my Net gain and loss for my transactions since it's over 100 transactions, if I'm not mistaken.
You are using TurboTax Online, so you don't have the update link; the online product updates automatically.
Depending on the types of crypto transactions you have, you may have entries into different areas of TurboTax.
Click this link for more info on How to Report Crypto Transactions.
If you want to summarize your Capital Gain/Loss Transactions, click this link for info on How to Enter a Summary in Lieu of Individual Transactions.
I'm able to process the Crypto as mentioned in the guides below, but, I still manage to get this issue to "fix" my return. The number I have for net gains/loss is what's entered in the form and it's still telling me to fix it. I'm in PA and I'm not sure if I need to print it out and send it in regardless, but, below is the notification I continuously am getting to "fix my return" before filing.
If you're using TurboTax Desktop, click on 'Online' at the top menu bar, then choose 'Check for Updates'.
If you're in TurboTax Online, the program updates automatically, so you don't have this option.
In that case, close TurboTax, clear your Cache and Cookies and retry.
One user states "The PA E-file system doesn't allow e-filing of the Schedule D form until 2/28 or after", but I can't confirm this.
You could file your Federal return now and file your Pennsylvania State return later.
Here's the steps for Filing Federal and State Returns Separately.
I figured I would wait until after 2/28 to see if there was a difference, but, I followed the steps you provided and I'm still having the same issue. I can't "fix my PA return". Anytime I go in an make sure the entries are correct, I get the same issue as above. Any further thoughts?
Try deleting the state and adding it back.
Please see this Turbo Tax FAQ on how to delete your state return.
This seems to have fixed the issue. But, now I'm at a point of my federal review and I have to manually go into each one and respond the same way, for they are all the same type of transaction, and it's over 170 transactions that will manually take me over 2 hours at this rate, at least. Hopefully after I manually do this it allows me to file both state and federal without the Schedule-D issue again.
