Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

Is anyone else having an issue downloading information from you financial institution? I have called customer support and after an excessive wait time, they tried to sell me a full service package - then hung up.

There are often issues with importing financial information at this time of the tax season. See this help article for troubleshooting steps with importing a document. You can also contact your financial institution or visit their website to see if they know of any issues with importing.

If you don't have very many forms or much information to import, it may be easier to enter the information into TurboTax directly.

For example, if you have a Form 1099-DIV:

In TurboTax Online:

  1. Go to Wages and Income
  2. Scroll down to Investments and Savings
  3. Select Show More
  4. Click the button next to Dividends on 1099-DIV
  5. Click the button +Add Investments and Continue
  6. Select a financial institution to Import, or click Enter a Different Way
  7. Click Dividends and Continue
  8. Select an Upload option or click Type it in Myself

When you click Type it in Myself, a screen appears with the entry fields you need to complete.

See this article for more information from TurboTax on reporting Forms 1099-DIV.

Thank you for the guidance @MonikaK1, I will wait for 1-2 weeks and give it a try.  I am a week or so earlier than last year.  Have a good one.
