It is the tax file that was saved from TT Online for 2019. I can not open up the file with the TT software because it says the file is corrupt. There is no error code.
How did you originally generate the file?
Is the extension of the file you are wanting to open ending in .tax? The .tax file is different than the PDF.
If you have already filed download/print by going to Your tax returns & documents and select Download/print.
If you have not filed, you can download the return by going to the left menu>Tax Tools>Print Center instead.
How do I get a copy of a return I filed this year in TurboTax Online?
I cannot open the .tax2019 file that I downloaded from the online site after completing my return. Also when I download the pdf all it shows is the filing instructions instead of my return.
The file was created through TT online but won’t open in TT software. It is a tax file and both are for the year 2019

Found the fix for that.
....One of the SuperUsers has reported that as a problem when downloading in certain ways.
If you are downloading from the Documents Home page...the file is corrupt.
IF you get back inside your tax file (After filing, you have to hit the "Add A State" from the left side of the documents screen to get back into your tax file)
......and then download it instead from the popup menu at:
<Tax Tools <<Tools Then the .tax2019 datafile is OK.
Thanks!
This worked for me...
but its been broken since early February...
why hasn't this been fixed?
