If you filed a 2019 federal tax return, the only way to change it would be to amend it. The IRS is not currently processing paper-filed returns, so it is difficult to predict how long it will take for them to process the information. Generally, it takes about 6 weeks to process an amended return, however, it may take considerably longer now.
You will need to wait until the IRS has accepted your original return before filing the amendment. If you are to receive a refund, wait until you receive it before filing the amended return. If you owed the IRS money, then wait for your payment to clear.
For TurboTax Online, simply login to your account and select “Amend a return that was filed and accepted.” If you used our CD/download product, sign back into your return and select “Amend a filed return.
You can find out more about amending a return here.
The IRS will use your 2019 federal return information to process your stimulus payment. If you need to change your banking information, you will need to wait for the Treasury to set up the web portal to do so.
"In the coming weeks, Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online so that individuals can receive payments immediately as opposed to checks in the mail."
The web portal from the IRS won't let me submit my direct deposit and banking information because it say's I already submitted a return so it won't let me give my needed information to them, my income is $0 so I would have no reason to file income taxes normally but I did because I was led to believe that that was the direct avenue of getting my information to the IRS to recieve the stimulus check assistance.
The web portal is only for nonfilers who do not meet the filing requirements and are not required to file.
If you have already filed your return, you do not need to do anything. They will very likely send you a check.
If you want the IRS to send you the fund through your direct deposit, and you did not provide that on your tax return, please wait. In the coming weeks, Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online so that individuals can receive payments immediately as opposed to checks in the mail. Stay tuned!

Yes I understand, that's the category that I fit under. I'm typically not required to file any income taxes because I don't have any income. When I gave my information to the TurboTax website I reported my income as $0 but they changed it to $1 for some reason. I was not intending to file taxes because I'm not required to I was under the assumption that that was the correct avenue to get my direct deposit information to the IRS
Below is a link to the IRS non-filer registration:
I tried the link already it won't let me submit my information on there because It say's I already submitted a return
The IRS is currently working on a Get My Payment application, due in mid-April, that you can use to let them know your bank account information, if they don't have your direct deposit information and haven't sent your payment. Please see the IRS's Economic Impact Payments page for more information.
I will try that, thank you
The IRS is preparing Websites to update information and check your filing status, it is expected in mid-April.
Please read what it says on the right hand side where it says “Filers: Get Your Payment”
I was filling out my information and when they asked if I received a stimulas check I got the first one but not the second and I accidentally put that I didn't reserve one and I need to fix it I received the 1200 and not the 600 and my reclaim said I was getting 1800 and I dont think that's right I'm supposed to receive 600 and I just wanted to fix the situation
@Ryanwads0918 The IRS opened today to start accepting returns. If your return is rejected in the cross checking, you will be able to correct your return and re-file it.
Otherwise, you will either receive a letter or need to amend. We do not know how the IRS is handling this exactly.
