This answer is way off from the question being asked. I'm not asking about my filing status on my taxes. I'm asking about the filing status on my W-4. TurboTax asked if I'd like to update my W-4. In doing so, it changed my W-4 filing status from "married filing jointly" to "single." There's no explanation of why it would do this or why I should file as a "single" even though I'm married. Which leads me to wonder if I should submit this new W-4 that TurboTax has created to my employer, or if it will completely mess-up the withholdings for the remainder of this year; or if I should just leave everything alone.
There is an option under Other Tax Situations where you are asked what your filing status will be next year that might have been changed. You may need to review this area.
To do this, log back into TurboTax.
4. Select yes on the screen asking if you want to change your W-4 withholdings for 2025.
5. You should be able to select your 2025 Filing status on the next screen. Review your input here to make sure the correct filing status is selected here.
