In state form smart check I'm getting this error: "Form MO-CR (1): Taxpayer Oth St Subtn must be entered." What should be entered here?

I am a resident of MO, my W2 income is all from NY but I have some investment/interest income as well which is taxed by MO. I have some deductions which apply to MO. I don't know why TurboTax is failing to fill in this field but it says it's necessary and I'm not sure what it's asking for.

Were you able to find an answer for this? I'm having the same issue and looking for some help.

Thanks.

It appears that this is referring to line 6 on the MO-CR. Subtn meaning "subtraction".

The Missouri instructions (at the bottom of the form) say

"Line 6 - Enter the amount of your and your spouse’s Missouri subtraction modifications derived from sources in the other state. This figure cannot exceed the Missouri subtraction modifications reported on your Form MO-A, Line 19. Example: If half of your capital gains and half of your agriculture disaster relief payments for the tax year included on Form MO-A were derived from sources in the other state, you would enter on Form MO-CR, Line 5 half of Form MO-A, Lines 16 and 18."

Is there a question for this in the Missouri interview? Or does this provide enough information for you? That is, can you figure out what number is supposed to be there and plug it in?

Thank you for your response. I'm still not sure what to put for (B).

Claimant's Total Missouri Subtractions from the Other State Smart Worksheet

A. Total Subtractions from Form MO-A, line 19 --- (auto-populated with Capital gain)

B. Claimant's total Missouri Subtractions from the Other State --- (don't know what to put here)

6. Claimant's total Missouri subtractions from the other state --- (currently blank)

So how much of those capital gains that are reported on Form MO-A, line 19 are derived from the other state?

The answer will depend on whether the capital gain has a nexus to the other state. That is, if the capital gain is from stocks and the like all sold while you were a resident of Missouri, then the answer is zero. But if this capital gain is from something in the other state (like real estate), then you will have to add that part of Form MO-A, line 19 that refers to this property to Missouri Subtractions from the other state.
