In schedule-A line 8-a, the mortgage interest amount is different from what I have entered from 1098 form. How do I figure out the calculation behind it?

When I click on the line 8a, it simply takes me to the form-1098 that I have entered -- instead of the worksheet that would have indicated how my mortgage interest was limited. Is this a bug?

Maybe this applies to you situation? Copied from IRS Pub 936:

Home mortgage interest. You can deduct
home mortgage interest on the first $750,000
($375,000 if married filing separately) of indebt-
edness. However, higher limitations ($1 million
($500,000 if married filing separately)) apply if
you are deducting mortgage interest from in-
debtedness incurred before December 16,
2017.

Did you have a rental or Office in Home where part of the Sch A deductions were already used so all that is showing up is what is not already being used ?
