In reviewing my return I have to go back to federal return to add something. How do I do that without starting over?

How do I fix my federal return before I send it.

Just click on Federal on the left side of the online program screen and then select the section you need to change.  You can change, add or delete anything on your tax return before it is filed.

Yes, you can correct or add to your return as long as you haven't submitted your return for e-file yet. 

To edit your return:

1. Log in to your account.
2. Select the section you need. 
3. Select the down arrow to the right and then Edit. 
4. Use the left-side menu to find to other parts of the return that you may need.
5. After you make changes, be sure to visit the Review section before trying to file.

If you have already submitted your return, you will need to wait until you find out if it is accepted. If your return is accepted, you will need to amend it to make changes. 

If it is rejected, you can make your corrections when you fix your rejection errors.
