In 2016 i lived in 2 different states(MA and NY), but had only 1 employer and received one W2 form. How should i file?

You will need to file two state tax returns, MA and NY. You will be a partial year resident for each state. In the Personal Info section you will indicate that you moved from one state to the other.

Complete your federal return first, then the state that you moved out of and your resident state last.

You can enter the one Form W-2. You will add a line so you can enter the second state withholding information. See screenshot below.
