I am sorry for your loss. If she passed in 2016 you can also still file married filing jointly. You are considered married the entire year that a spouse passes away. You  also may be eligible to use Qualifying Widow(er) with dependent child as your filing status for 2 years following the year your spouse died as long as you have not remarried. This treats your return as a joint return and you can get a higher standard deduction. Let me know if you need more help. Sometimes the social security number can possibly be blocked. If so you will need to mail your return.
