I Have been filing my Fed and State of Illinois Tax return on Turbo tax for years. Normally if you have a Refund you can Elect Not to Receive it but rather APPLY that Refund amount to Next Year taxes due. Well this year in 2025 there was NO Place I could find on TurboTax for Illinois to do this--ie. to Apply the refund to next year. ( This option was there for Federal but Not for State of Illinois return this year in 2025) Its helpful sometimes to use this method because then you can just send in less for your first estimated tax for 2026 and you do not even need to wait for or apply for the refund. I was just wondering WHY TurboTax did not offer that option this year in 2025 for State of Illinois. ( I checked with the State of Illinois on their tax forms and they still allow this method--so its NOT them that made any change.) Is there Anyone from Turbo Tax who could look into this issue. Thanks

I use desktop so hope this works. More hoops than a circus to jump through
I tried Mike9241's methodology which did not work today 2/28/26. His suggestion follows this question. I was able to complete step 7, but instead of getting to a page for identifying an overpayment to be applied. I was taken back to A few things before we wrap of your state taxes page. It appears as though you want Turbotax preparers to send in paper forms to apply an overpayment rather than submit state returns online.

I forgot to add that I am using the online version rather than desktop.
Turbo Tax state e-filing fees are set to increase in March. Perhaps tomorrow the issue will be corrected.
