I received a generic message that turbotax couldn't efile our Illinois taxes because of a Schedule M issue. It took me 2 hours to figure out on my own that the issue was that Illinois is taxing overtime compensation that the federal is excluding. I've calculated that information on the federal form in Turbotax so why doesn't turbotax enter that information on the Illinois state form and fill out Schedule M! Isn't that why I'm paying Turbotax?

Illinois, as of now, does tax overtime that is excludable for federal purposes. There have been multiple updates for Illinois over the past few days.
I did the taxes on 3/25 and went back on 3/27 and went thru every question trying to figure out why I was getting the Schedule M message and reran the QC on 3 /27 and none of the updates caught this. I manually entered misc items Illinois taxes into the Illinois return to get it to generate a Schedule M. On 3/27 when I opened TurboTax it did run updates.
