How to override form 1040 line 76a and add it back to line 77

If you want to apply your refund (line 76a) to your next years estimated taxes (line 77), then you can do so by following the prompts below - see attached screenshot for additional assistance 

  • Log into your account and click Take Me to My Return
  • Choose Federal Taxes (will say Personal if using Self Employed full version)
  • Select Other Tax Situations
  • Scroll down to Additional Tax Payments
  • Select Apply Refund to Next Year
  • Proceed through the prompts

If you want to apply your refund (line 76a) to your next years estimated taxes (line 77), then you can do so by following the prompts below - see attached screenshot for additional assistance
