Do I need the date of purchase for the funds I sold/transferred to other funds in the same company?

I think I have incurred capital gains according to the 1099 B's I have.

If you transfer between funds, yes, you generally will incur a gain or loss on the transfer.

If the 1099-B does not include a purchase date you will have to use the best information you have to determine a purchase date.
