How do I switch my checking account information if I have already filed

If you have already filed your return you cannot change the account number in time to have it effective for any refund deposit --an amended return can take 2-4 months to be processed by the IRS.

Instead when the IRS encounters a problem with the incorrect account number the IRS will mail a paper check to the address on your return.
