Why did it automatically file me as single instead of head of household

If you do not have a qualifying dependent, then you will not qualify for this filing status. Therefore, the system will automatically give you the status you qualify for which is single. Please view the TurboTax FAQ below to see the qualifications for filing as head of household.

Why did it automatically file me as single instead of head of household

Do you have dependents?  Does someone claim you as a dependent on their return?
