If you can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer, your standard deduction for 2019 is limited to the greater of: (1) $1,050, or (2) your earned income plus $350 up to a maximum of the regular standard deduction (for single $12,200).

For purposes of calculating the standard deduction, taxable scholarship income is considered earned income, if properly reported on line 1 of form 1040
