I entered over $14,000 home office expenses and my owed federal tax amount did not change. Why?

I work for a large IT company, but I have to pay for my home office expenses, i.e. phone, internet connection, and some travel expenses.  I entered over $14,000.00 in expenses and my owed federal tax amount did not change.  Why?

Deductions for job expenses have been suspended with the new tax act.  See Deductions that have been suspended for 2018
