If Turbotax Basic changes the $996 that I entered from my wife's 1099-MISC to 1998, how do I correct the problem?

I have re-entered th correct number - $996 - multiple times, and on the review page it always shows that I evtered $1998.

It sounds as though the Form 1099-MISC may be entered twice (+ $6.00) or additional income has been added. 

Please click on Forms in the upper right corner of your TurboTax screen.

Look at any Form 1099-MISC that is showing in the list of Forms under Forms in My Return. 

See if there's more than one.  If so, you can delete it.

Also look at your Schedule C, you may see income other than the Form 1099-MISC.
