If the IRS rejected a 2018 return, do I still have to file an amended return? Can I change the original return and resubmit?

I need to correct the original return.  Does that mean I have to submit an amended return if I make corrections or do I submit the corrected original?

You do not prepare an amended return. You make the changes for whatever caused the rejection and resubmit it.

You only amend a return that's been accepted...if your return was rejected, you correct the reason for rejection and resubmit.
