The information on the hard copy of your W-2 is what the employer sent to the IRS.  If something got garbled when you imported it, then edit the data in your TT software so that it matches the hard copy.

If the information on the hard copy of my w-2 is different from the imported info what do I do

First check with your payroll office to see which figures are correct.

  • If the imported copy is correct, do nothing.
  • If the paper copy is correct, you can go to the W-2 section of TurboTax and make the changes.

To make changes to your W-2, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on Federal > Wages & Income  
  2. Under Wages and Salaries, click the Start/Update box. 
  3. On the screen,  Here's your W-2 info click Edit next to your imported W-2 and make the changes.
