Daughter works full time. Mother is 97 and was placed in a nursing home. Mother has no income except social security.

If you are paying for more than half of the cost of her living in the nursing home and are still claiming her as a dependent then you can still file as Head of Household.

If you are not paying for more than half of the cost of her living in the nursing home then you would not be able to claim Head of Household for her as a dependent.
