If she attended school for at least one college period in 2018, she would be treated as a student for the 2018 tax year. If she attended at least part of at least 5 months, she could be claimed as your dependent as a student (if she meets the other requirements as well).
The program will address the taxpayer (or dependent) as if it were the tax year, so if they were a student in 2018, they will be addressed as a student in the 2018 TurboTax programs.
If she is your dependent, you enter the 1098-T into your TurboTax program. If there is a credit, you get the credit, if there is taxable income (from scholarships) the program will tell you how much the student needs to claim.
If she is NOT a dependent, she enters the 1098-T and applies for a credit.
