If one were to be on temporary disability (SDI) due to a personal illness for 6 months in the state of California and received Medi-Cal, do they report the SDI as income?

SDI benefits are taxable only if paid as a substitute for unemployment insurance (UI) benefits.

You will only report it if a tax reporting form is issued to you this month.
