If my state tax return isn't ready for e-file will it automatically be filed when it is ready?

It says that my federal return is ready for e-file, but my state isn't and I don't understand why.

State programs are often not ready for filing until late January. Wait until then and then initiate filing.

Please see the availability chart for your state here in this TurboTax FAQ. I would check the availability of your state return to see if it's currently available.
