If my son lived with me and I claim him on my taxes do I have to claim the money he earned from his employment?

No his earned income does not go on your return.

If he taxes withheld on that income for Federal Tax withholding and/or State tax withholding, he should file a return, NOT claiming himself (as you claimed him) and he may get a refund, depending on amount he made.
